America seems to be the biggest promoter of weight loss diets. Yet strangely enough of all the cultures in the world Americans are the most obese country. Obesity not only makes you look unattractive and feel sluggish but there are also a number of chronic illnesses caused from it. In fact, lifestyles that lead to obesity are one of the primary reasons of the leading cause of death in the U.S., which is heart disease. This alone should make you want to go jump on some sort of weight loss diet now.

There’s a lot of misleading information out there on fat loss and it’s usually in the form of product advertising. Fortunately, there’s also a lot of solid information as scientists and health professionals are constantly discovering more effective ways to burn calories through their scientific research. One of the recently popular methods of losing fat is finding out how your body processes certain foods. How this is done is by analyzing your anatomic nervous system (ANS) in whether or not your biochemical makeup leans more towards a sympathetic or parasympathetic means of processing food. The ANS affects your heart rate, digestion, perspiration, respiration rate, as well as how nutrients are treated.

This method is part of what is called metabolic typing. This is a type of weight loss diet that doesn’t look at the symptoms but goes to the core of the problem in regards to chronic illness and obesity. This battle is fought by putting you on a nutritional plan that is catered to your genetic, biological and physiological makeup. The medical industry has always promoted pharmaceuticals that only treat diseases such as obesity at a symptomatic level. But I think by now we’re fully aware that standardization isn’t effective in the sense that while one diet plan may work for one person it may be detrimental to another.

There are so many diet plans and weight loss theories but most all of them are based on a one-size-fits-all mentality. If everyone’s biochemistry were the exact same this would make sense. As you can see we have to treat our bodies at an individual level providing them with the specific nutrients they need to function properly, create energy, and lose body fat.
